Sometimes, when C is away working on some irrigation job down at Sale, I simultaneously HATE and ENJOY being the single parent. Hate it, because you can’t fob the kids off to Dad, and there’s no other parental figure to tend to them during the night. Enjoy it, because I’m the boss and what says goes. Hate it because I have to be ultra organised. Enjoy it because cooking for myself and kids can be so adhoc … and back and forth and back and forth…
