Chasing the wifi travel router

Australia seems to have an absence of wifi travel routers. They float everywhere on Amazon – look – here’s one

It’s about $50AU ($39US) – will they post to Australia, where there are none? They will not. Thus, I ordered one via eBay, which sounded just as good. I have been waiting impatiently since late April – and yesterday I received an email from PayPal stating, “You have won your dispute and have been issued a full refund.” WHAT THE?!
I investigated my eBay account, and found this:

After some digging around, the only thing I was able to come up with to explain it was a sentence on the ‘Global Shipping Program’ site under ‘prohibited items’: Batteries (with exception of those that come included with consumer electronics such as AA, C, Li-ion batteries).

In my world, a wifi travel router IS a consumer electronic πŸ™ Nevertheless, I am now casting my eyes closer to home for another option…

  1. You can use some of the global reshippers (reship, ship2me) for this. They provide a US-based shipping address and then forward.

    Yeah – I used the Australia Post ‘ShopMate’ one last month. Horrendous. Wildy overpriced. I did actually find one via Amazon – cheap and quick shipping – works out of the box πŸ™‚
