Mother’s Day - my second one…

This time last year I had known for about eight days that there was a tiny PartyPie in me. A veritable dot. Literally. M and I took my mum, my sister, and their respective squeezes for a sail to French Island - it was t-shirt weather. This is my mum and I on Tankerton Jetty…

…and mum completely on her own aboard the trimaran….

    Mother's Day 2007

M had given me a little handwritten massage voucher that I have somewhere, commemorating my first mother’s day. The very notion gave me a shock! One year later and the tiny dot has grown about a billion-fold and has turned into a chunky little baby bug. I had to gently inform M what day it was, and was helped in this by a beautiful message from Relle, our doula wonder, wishing me and all her other ladies a very happy day.

Happy Mother's Day PartyPie & Me

We went to the Elixir Cafe in Tyabb. M bade me to frock up. Have I mentioned that I am now skinnier than I have been since about 1991 when I lived on two minute noodles and beer? Together with my scare-hair (that is falling out so fast that I could thatch a needy persian every morning) I look like a burnt matchstick with boobs. But I digress. I put on a skirt for the first time in about six months, dug out some stockings, wore the shoes I’d bought at Saver’s the day before, whacked on a shirt of E’s that I have had for at least 12 years and hoped for the best ;)

    Fed up on Mother's Day

The best thing about the cafe is the huge antiques barn that it’s in. The food is ordinary, especially when you aren’t eating dairy [whimper]. However, they do a killer strawberry daquiri…

    Zoe eyes off the daquiri

M wrangled and he and Zoe charmed the table behind us. I, trying to push from my mind what her lack of afternoon sleep was going to do to my evening, chomped on calamari rings, read an old Vogue magazine and sipped delicately at my beverage. Z fell asleep right on cue as we left, and of course immediately awoke when we put her in the car and remained that way for the next three deteriorating hours… And that is why I deserve a day dedicated to ME! *yawn*… I never would have thought that 9pm would start to feel ‘late’.

You’re looking good in the skirt and stockings. Got a shock as well reading your post because it means I’ve been reading for over a year, awk, the time just flies by doesn’t it?

I don’t know if you qualify as a mother until the baby is born. Logically.

@ Karen - time is FLYING!! There are some blogs I read that have four or five year olds that didn’t used to exist at all!

@ Dylan - you are a fruit loop ;P If you’ve decided to go on with the whole preggo deal, then I think you’re a mother as soon as you cut the hard liquor and start popping those folate enhanced vitamins…
