Am not dead, or owner of newborn. Have been recovering from Christmas, Boxing Day, Small Brother’s Birthday rush - and now it is New Year’s Eve! It is also 43 degrees and so hot that I can’t even describe it - but I have a new idol - my Dimplex portable refrigerant powered air conditioner. Holy crap - it’s my saviour. However, we are now departing for the city, where we are going to celebrate our very good friend’s (CGB) 40th birthday - which also happens to be today.

I promised from the outset I would make it, and in their wonderfulness, the birthday planners organised a room for M and I to doss in at the very swanky Southbank apartment suite where the celebrations will take place. So as long as we cope with the car ride, we will spend the next 15 hours or so in high powered air conditioning, with a party atmosphere, awesome food and a place for me to nanna-nap at whim.
