J and I took off before 9am and hit Bangalow, leaving M and Ian to go on a boy’s own adventure walk through the Historic Nightcap Track. Where they found a new friend…
J took me to her Bangalow cafe of choice; she got a coffee and I got a smoothie - we both got raspberry and chocolate muffins, which in retrospect were a mistake as they turned us into slow-moving minke whales as the weather got hotter and hotter. J took me to her shops of choice, and we evilly went into The World’s Most Expensive Baby Shop and whimpered softly at all the cool stuff - trying to remember all the brands to seek out later on ebay.
We had little stamina, and a brief supermarket shop took care of the rest of it. We drove home sipping ginger drinks and bemoaning our expectant states. The minke whales spent the rest of the day nattering on the couch, doing craft projects and eating our takeaway salads. M and Ian returned from conquering the outback and proclaiming that they had discovered the presence of a lizard which was only known to hang out somewhere near Townsville - meaning it was almost unfeasibly far south. They were thrilled and immediately began consulting the reference books. I began my new craft toy - a bear.
Meanwhile J began making the most exquisite plates full of nori rolls, which we all devoured until we slowly slipped to the ground under the table, sated on soy, wasabi and japanesey goodness.
