UPDATE: My nan had surgery last night and I just did an illicit phone call to the US from work. She sounds very much together and says she reckons she’ll live. She also pointed out that she’s done quite well in that she hasn’t been in hospital for 43 years – since my aunty was born! I agreed that it was a pretty good track record. She’s out of hospital and into rehab on Friday. Thank you for the healing vibes!!

My tiny five foot nothing Nan has been having hip/leg trouble over there in Marblehead and I got an email from my uncle today saying that an MRI scan had found she had both a fracture to the femoral head and another fracture in the pelvis. They’re operating on the femoral fracture right about now, and the pelvic fracture will have to heal with time

This totally sucks. My mum just left her a week ago to continue on her global gallivanting. My nan had been told that she had bursitis in the hip. Yeah, right. Am not sure how nan is going to cope, as her very cool appartment (an old schoolhouse) has a lot of steps and no lift. Our trailer has a ramp! I would love to whisk her over here to heal nicely in trailerland! Please send healing, bone mending, pain alleviating thoughts in her direction. I really feel like I am at the arse end of the earth and unable to help. Am going to enlist M to help me make an excellently entertaining get well photo card. If only the Mercedes could fly!
