Nice new big brick home. Bleugh.

M is very much the freak of his family. They are all into having ‘nice new big brick homes’, four wheel drives and without a doubt, all vote Liberal. We are almost entirely opposite. But because it’s family stuff we generally keep our mouths shut - and they seem to just assume that everyone else is Just Like Them. We often feel like aliens. Today we were walking around Toogoom, one of my favourite places - which is slowly being eaten by developers and fuckwits that are building houses that are straight out of some McMansion nightmare that have no empathy with their surroundings whatsoever. Anyway, M and I wandered along shaking our heads, thinking about the nice old houses we’d save if we won Powerball, while his sister and his neice and their partners walked with us, eyeing off the sporadic big ‘beautiful’ homes and the wonders of subdivision.
